Our Mission
The general & initial nature of the business by this not-for-profit corporation is to put together care packages to decorate hospital rooms for children whom have been admitted to long term care. By doing so, Sprout Foundation aims bring much needed joy to the child's mental well-being which in turn aids in physical healing. Mental wellness has been proven to scientifically play an enormous role in the physical healing of humans. Elevated moods decrease stress levels and allow the body to help restore itself.
Children are often faced with life threatening situations that require them to be in a hospital for weeks, months, even years. Sometimes the nicest of hospital rooms can just feel like, well, a hospital room. Even for adults this can be very depressing, so you can only imagine the effect it has a on child. Having their room decorated to possibly include some colorful lights or their favorite superhero on a comforter set has an incredible impact on their attitude towards getting well. This is where Sprout Foundation and the generous donations from our donors change lives.
Our Core Values
These organizational values are at the core of our work, shaping how we make decisions, and guiding how we engage and interact with partners, donors, peer organizations, and each other. We are working to solve a challenging problem, rooted in complex, interwoven causes. We acknowledge that we are certainly not alone in doing so.
We use our talent, experience, passion, and resources to join organizations, large and small, local and national, in advancing our directives. We go where the energy to make meaningful change is. We seize opportunities with partners that embrace our values. We are here to make the world better.
-
Honesty and Integrity
We take responsibility to ensure our actions match our words. We prioritize open, transparent communication in all interactions. We are committed to continuously helping children whenever and wherever we can.
-
Courage, Curiosity, and Humility
In service to our mission, we are willing to take risks. We are courageous, knowing that we will have both successes and missteps along the way. We ask questions. We learn from others and are humble enough to recognize that we don’t have all the answers. We seek novel solutions, even when they are not apparent or easy. We embrace the challenge of this work.
-
Human-Centered
As a human-centered organization, The Sprout Foundation believes in the innate value of each person. This is reflected in our organizational culture and guides our activities with partners and the communities we serve. We have fun. We respect each other and bring our best selves to this work.
-
Thoughtful Urgency
We recognize the human toll of suffering children without hope and the urgency needed to address it, while simultaneously affirming that long-term, comprehensive solutions are the goal. Acknowledging and working to aid these children can be complex. The work we do must be predicated upon grappling with history in an effort to create a better future.
-
Interdependency and Collaboration
We recognize that advancing the quality of the care for these children cannot be done in isolation. Solving this issue requires each of us to leverage and share our unique perspectives, expertise, and insights. The success of this work requires us to rely on each other, both institutionally and individually. We honor that this takes time, and requires trust building and shared risk, in service to the mission.
